11 - The Howgills

As we move towards the end of Main Street, we find a number of interesting and useful shops, including a second outdoor shop, ironmongers, bookshop and the Tourist Information Centre. Inside here we can get lots of information about what is happening in the locality, and how to get about.

Even from the Main Street in town,however, the fells are never far from your view.  As we step outside the tourist centre we get a glorious view of Winder, the nearest of the Howgill Fells (across the carpark!).
